If you are serious about getting the best possible HDTV with the most important features and the best value, and if you are into watching action Blue-Rays DVDs or playing XBox 360 or PS3 console games, consider the Samsung Series 8 LCD TV.

I have been researching what is the HDTV by reading online reviews, and visiting many websites, but I decided the best place to find out what is the actual truth about what products are the best is by finding people who sell HDTVs at your local electronics stores or quality department stores. My method is to observe the sales person talking to another customer first to see if they are pitching the store’s sales line or whether it is from their personal experience. I have come to the conclusion that the younger males (18 to 25) seem to know the HDTVs inside and out and are passionate about getting the best performance for you PS3 games or Blu-Ray movies. In most cases, these guys are not going to spin the company line but take it upon themselves to tell you what is the best hdtv in their experience, which is considerable in most cases.

I have visited 10 stores in the last few months to find out how the Samsung Series 8 compares with the Sony Bravia W Series KDL-46W5100 LCD HD Television. I am focusing on the 46″ HDTV because I believe this is just the right size, not too big and expensive, and not too small.

Here are my findings:

There is not too much difference, in my view, between the Samsung HDTV and the Sony HDTVs besides the price, Sony being more expensive. The Samsung offers the same quality picture and features such as high refresh frequency, multiple HDMI ports, great contrast ratios, and low energy consumption. I would lean towards the Samsung as the whole package just looked better, although you also have to consider the Sony brand name. Both are top quality sets.

My opinion regarding selecting a LED HDTV over a LCD HDTV is pure marketing at the moment. I admit the picture quality of the LED sets is quite sharp, brilliant and there was no conceivable blurring, adding $500 to $1000 to the price tag of a LCD HDTV over a LED HDTV set at the moment, is just too much for me. Sure the LED HDTV is thinner and consumes less power, but I will let the people who need the latest and greatest to
